Museum of Contemporary Art in the heart of Tampere. A combination of views, art and history
Collaboration with: NO.MAD Arquitectos – Eduardo Arroyo.
A 21st century museum is an act of preserving memory through an intense experience. This is defined by the intensity and variability of its perceptual experience. And, so that the Museum does not conform as a building disconnected from its surroundings or that could be anywhere, the urban and landscape wealth of the place where it is located must be incorporated into it in a sophisticated way.
Its location in a natural and historical environment encourages the absorption of the properties of the place, making them participate intensely in the creation of its interior space. Thus, the linear form is altered by slight vibrations in the perimeter that direct the visitor's gaze from each interior use towards the iconic buildings that surround it.
The interior has a monomaterial character with wood finishes that reveal the direct relationship with the Finnish construction tradition. The use of two-tone wood differentiates recreational uses, with a natural treatment, from exhibition uses with a black finish that adds both light control and a characteristic display intensity
