The ruins of an ancient monastery are being restored for a new pilgrim hostel
The state of the existing structure in relation to the landscape induces a romantic interpretation of the complex and leads us to imagine it as a work built from Friedrich's paintings.
The program is divided into two distinct parts. The first is inside the ruins, dedicated to reflection and contemplation of the historic complex; and the other is outside, intended for the rest modules, which are based on the idea of the cloister.
In the interior part, we want the interaction of the visitor and the place to take place, through the net that covers the ruin and rises in height. This allows us to see the landscape from a unique point of view; and at the same time, from the area below the net, we can find that slight reduction that is noticed when entering a church, without forgetting the feeling of welcome and allowing us to contemplate the ruin.
The exterior, we could think of as a set of small streets around an introverted cloister, which closes in on itself, gaining absolute privacy.
