A light building with abstract volumes that connects citizens with their river
Collaboration with: Marcos Merino and Emilio Romero
A Canoe Club and Cultural Centre is planned for the city of Écija on the channel reclaimed from the Genil River, which will promote recreational use and organise access and walks (public and restricted).
A building composed of the sum of prismatic volumes, apparently independent, which connect to each other with a game of solids - voids, covered - open spaces, etc., which give a human scale to a building of a certain size, while generating a series of nuances in the passage between exterior and interior.
The Centre also takes advantage of the two main levels of the area of action. On the one hand, on an upper level, there is a cafeteria and an indoor - outdoor exhibition area connected to the main street and the existing sports centre, and on the other hand, almost 5 m below and in full relation to the river, the area of hangars for canoes and other vessels, classrooms, changing rooms, workshops, etc.
